Meet Kari

Hi, my name is Kari McKenzie and I absolutely love the piano!

I'm a prairie girl, born in Saskatoon and raised in Regina.  I currently teach out of my home in the Douglas Park area of Regina, Saskatchewan, where I live with my husband Kyle and our twelve year old son.  When I'm not teaching piano or playing myself, you can find me decorating our home, mucking around in my vegetable garden or refinishing an old piece of furniture.

I began lessons myself at a young age, progressing through the Royal Conservatory of Music examination certificate program.  I frequently competed in the Regina Music Festival.  In 2002, at the age of 18, I completed my Grade Ten Certificate with the Royal Conservatory of Music, along with the accompanying certificates in Music Harmony and History.  I have over 17 years of teaching experience.

Instilling a lifelong love for music in my students is my goal and my passion.  We don't all progress to become concert pianists as adults, but I feel the goal of lessons is to come away with an understanding and an appreciation of music.  This special appreciation that comes after we understand the notes behind the music, is so much deeper and more meaningful than the enjoyment we experience from simply listening to music.

I love seeing the joy and the pride on one of my student's faces when they come off the stage at a Recital, after they accomplished a goal despite the hard work and dedication it took!

Whether you are young or old, have some experience playing piano or are brand new, want to learn to play classical music or the hits you hear on the radio - I have something for you!

I can't wait to make music together!

Kari
